Welcome your patrons to the library
with customized READ® posters!
Learn how to use the SCKLS READ® Poster Kit in a unique, hands-on learning experience featuring setup, photo editing, and poster or bookmark creation. Feature your own patrons, students, library staff, and local officials or celebrities on READ posters! SCKLS provides a READ poster kit available for checkout during your library's promotional events.
Here's what you can expect... A three-hour training session will be scheduled to take place at your library. You and up to four of your library staff are invited to create a personalized READ® poster graphic. Be sure all attendees have a favorite book handy, are prepared to be photographed, and are ready to have some fun.

On-Site Training
In this training, you will learn how to
- Select an appropriate location, set up a photoshoot, and use basic photography skills
- Review image file types and determine the resolution
- Use Photoshop selection and layering techniques to create professional-looking posters
- Borrow the SCKLS READ® Poster Kit
- Host a READ® event at your library
What's in the SCKLS READ® Poster Kit?
- A laptop with pre-installed ALA READ® Poster software
- Instructions for setting up, planning and editing
- Background screen and supplemental lighting
To be eligible to borrow the SCKLS READ® Poster Kit, a staff member or volunteer from your library must attend this SCKLS training.
If your library decides to host a READ® event as part of your programming, you will Your library will be responsible for supplying the camera and any necessary software for transferring photos, as well as staffing for your event. Additionally, you will need to coordinate the pickup and return of the kit to the SCKLS facility in South Hutchinson. If you intend to print the posters, please ensure you provide a color printer and paper, either 11x17 or 8.5x11. Alternatively, completed posters can also be sent via email.
