Grants and Services Eligibility
The South Central Kansas Library System (SCKLS) determines policy and procedures for the grants and services it offers member public school district libraries. Eligibility for SCKLS grants and services is based in part on the member public library school district’s employment of a Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) licensed school library media specialist. SCKLS grants and services are not intended to supplant or take the place of the member public library school district’s employment of a Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) licensed school library media specialist. In providing grants and services, SCKLS reserves the right to request documentation to verify licensure and employment status of school library media specialists and school library staff. Member public school district libraries must also update their Member Directory Information annually to be eligible for any SCKLS grants and services.
Eligibility and award for SCKLS technology and collection development or other designated school library grants must be administered by a school district’s licensed school library media specialist. In instances in which the member public school district does not employ a licensed school library media specialist, eligibility for some SCKLS grants and services are limited to school library staff who are employed at least 10 hours a week and who provide school library support services.
Grants
Eligibility and award for SCKLS technology and collection development or other one-time, specially-designated school library grants must be administered by a school district’s licensed school library media specialist.
Eligibility and award for SCKLS Continuing Education Reimbursement Grant, which provides reimbursement for fees incurred for library-specific learning courses, conferences, and fees, is open to licensed school library media specialists and to school library support staff subject to applicable Continuing Education Reimbursement Grant guidelines.
SCKLS grants are intended to supplement, not replace, the operating budgets of member public school district libraries.
