AUTOMATION AND TECHNOLOGY

Assistance in planning, purchasing and implementing library automation and technology is available from the Automation Technology Department. Consulting on automation systems, Internet, e-mail, hardware, software, Internet policy development and technology related training are also provided to member librarians.

WHO DO I CONTACT FOR ASSISTANCE?

The SCKLS Automation & Technology department was restructured in October of 2004 to include phone technical support. Member libraries now receive immediate assistance with basic computer and technology issues by contacting Ted Morris (Monday - Friday 8:00 to 5:00) at our toll-free number (800) 234-0529, ext.164.

Member libraries are encouraged to contact Ted as the initial point of contact for technical issues. If Ted cannot resolve the issue on the phone he will forward the request for assistance to the Automation and Technology Consultant and/or Coordinator.

During the same time frame, acquisitions and cataloging were also merged into the Automation and Technology department to better align with the services provided. Assistance with cataloging, MARC records, KLC add/deletes, library supplies, material ordering (books, video, cd/dvd's) through Baker & Taylor and other library jobbers can be accomplished by contacting Dianne Bogle, ext. 128 or Janice Wiens, ext. 127.
