BLaST #1: Fall Back to Basics
What is BLaST? It is a twelve month program with quarterly day-long training created to improve library services for the patrons of South Central Kansas Library System libraries. This program is designed to address the needs of the librarian at the one person library and those new to the library profession by providing training covering common library concerns.

Member Library Information Sharing Session
We hope you will use this opportunity to meet informally with public, academic, school and special librarians in your area. Choose the location and time that best meets your needs. You’ll network with other librarians, share ideas and experiences about your library and gain valuable information about SCKLS grants and services. Light refreshments will be served at each location. SCKLS Director Paul Hawkins and Continuing Education Coordinator Tom Taylor will facilitate these SCKLS member library information sharing sessions.

Healthy Kids: Reading - Smart Eating – Moving - Sep. 10
Healthy Kids Challenge (HKC), a Kansas-based nonprofit organization, is helping to make it possible for healthier eating and physical activity choices, as well as showing the fun of reading, everywhere children live, learn work and play! The grant, funded by United Methodist Health Ministry Fund and help from Healthy Kids Challenge, Reading- Smart Eating – Moving…Balance My Day, is designed for Kansas libraries who offer programs for preschoolers and early elementary children and their families. Not only does it provide for fun, interactive edutainment, centered around reading, healthy eating, physical activity and less screen time it allows for you to pick and choose from ideas that will work best for your library and your programs.

When: 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Cost: $7.50 lunch
